Actor and former president’s son Joseph Estrada signs with ABS-CBN and set to start work on his first TV series
New ABS-CBN talent Jake Ejercito is ready to work on his very first teleserye, Marry me marry – a romance that sees his character in a love triangle with a couple played by Paulo Avelino and Janine Gutierrez.
The actor said the project was “exciting and nerve-racking at the same time”, especially since he works with a cast of highly acclaimed actors – Paulo and Janine recently won prestigious acting awards at the end of 2020.
“The pressure is real,” Jake said at a press conference on Friday, April 30.
“In fact, until now, I’m still overwhelmed to be a part of the show and to be among these bright and talented actors. But since, inaaral ko na talaga (I studied) the scenario we have, I ask my mother for advice, my father too. I just want to get into the recording, into the lockdown, ”he said.
Jake, who is the son of former actress Laarni Enriquez and former action star and president Joseph Estrada, said he has always oscillated between showbiz and politics. He initially wanted to pursue a career in public service, but said that “somewhere along the way I was disappointed with our system here in the Philippines”.
“‘Yung pagpasok his showbiz, talagang it’s been in my head ever since. Hindi lang ako pinayagan kasi gusto ng parents ko i-prioritize lang ‘yung studies ko, pero nandiyan lang talaga siya, never nawala’ yung interest ko sa pagpasok sa showbiz,” he said.
(Me going into showbiz, it’s been in my head ever since. I just wasn’t allowed to because my parents wanted me to prioritize my studies, but it’s always been there, I didn’t. never lost interest in entering showbiz.)
Jake has said he is not giving up the policy for good, but at the moment he has no plans to pursue it. For now, his focus is on acting, particularly in film preparation. Marry me marry.
“Our lockdown recording starts, I think, in two weeks or something. I am preparing myself. I have already told my daughter Ellie that I will be away for two to three weeks. It’s really very exciting for me kasi sa (because in the) casting I only know Adrian Lindayag. Other than him, this will be the first time I’ve met everyone. So talagang (really) can’t wait to experience it, ”he said.
Jake shares 9-year-old Ellie with his ex-girlfriend, actress Andi Eigenmann, who herself is part of a big showbiz family. Jake has said he’s ready to work with Andi and his mom, movie legend Jaclyn Jose someday.
“It would be an honor,” he said of the opportunity to work with Jaclyn.
While he is doing his teleserye Beginning with a romance, Jake eventually hopes to work on projects that raise awareness of social issues.
“If the opportunity arose, I would like to work on projects that address social issues, mg (the) hot topics in society.
He also said that while his current focus is on acting, he might even consider producing shows in the future. – Rappler.com
